Overview
Kamina Air Base (ICAO: FZSA) is a military airport located near Kamina in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It was built as part of the Belgian near-national-redoubt concept after World War II. Susan Williams in her book White Malice: The CIA and the Neocolonisation of Africa writes the following concerning the goals of the military base at its founding:The Kamina military base in western Katanga - some 200 miles from Shinkolobwe and 260 miles from Elisabethville - had been built in 1952 by Belgium, supported by NATO funding.
